Kim van Niekerk
Kim has been involved with plants and gardening for over 30 years now.
She lives on a farm in the Eastern Cape of South Africa which is now the home of the official holding facility and indigenous plant maintenance facility. The farm is called Albertvale.
Kim is the co-founder of the Bedford Garden Festival which has drawn many people from far and wide since 2003.
She has travelled extensively over the past years investigating planting methods, erosion controls, natural grass covers, garden design, plant propagation methods, edible plants, eco friendly gardening practices and much more.
She has worked on a show garden at RHS Chelsea in England which won a gold medal in 2012 and also hold a BSc postgrad degree from Rhodes University 1981 – 1984.
Kim has been principal of the Van Niekerk Properties business for many years and has also successfully run many plant related projects in that time Kim has attended SAGIC Invasive Species Training modules, giving her background knowledge on the NEMBA legislation and how to complete Invasive Management Plans for municipalities and private persons.
Nadine has a background in advertising & marketing and was an integral part of the Mr Price Marketing team to successfully transform the Mr Price brand to the famous RED CAP brand it is today. Nadine has been involved in the farming business on the administration, accounts and finance side of the business. She has run her own manufacturing business
Her interest in taking care after the earth grew as the necessity to farm “smart” grew and she has attended many courses on veld management; Grazing for Profit and Carbon sequestration through sound grass management to mention a few. Nadine is also a qualified Estate agent and ran the Pastel accounting system for Van Niekerk Properties CC. Nadine has a love for beautiful flora and has now been caught by the intrigue of indigenous plants. She is a long time member of the Bedford Garden Club committee.
Nadine is involved with Kim in KGG and is a co-owner of the cc. With her years of business experience she manages the finance and the logistics side of the business as well as hands on work on site and in the nursery.
